 Forgotten Memories (Part 7)

After countless hours of tests and scans, Jeremy sits in a hospital bed, in a dull room, even more confused as to what was happening than before. Laying still in bed and not knowing what else to do, he repeated the words he now knew in his head. No new flashes, no new memories, all he had is what he had already been given. The small snippets of information were not enough, they meant nothing.

The woman in the ambulance, he wished she was there, she was helping, she made more memories appear, but now there was no one. He sat alone in that room, an occasional visit from a nurse bringing food, but aside from that there was no human contact.

He began to look around the room, seeing if anything around would trigger a memory…

Nothing. Jeremy began to grow frustrated, he didn’t even fully understand the feeling, but the anger grew. He just wanted to know more, he just wanted to remember.

As the hours passed by, Jeremy’s eyes began to feel heavy. He struggled so hard to keep them open, not knowing why they insisted on being shut. Eventually tiredness overtook him and he fell asleep.

In his dreams he could see the memories, he was dancing with Raina, her long flowy sleeves swaying around as her arms gracefully flew through the air. But then the dream turned to a new memory, one he had not seen before.

Raina stops dancing and turns to Jeremy, “You know Jeremy, I also like to blend in wherever I go, I don’t appreciate being noticed,” she said with a slight passive aggressive tone.

Jeremy is slightly put off by the comment, “Well you were doing a pretty good job of blending in. If Martin hadn’t brought you over I don’t know if I would have even seen you.”

Raina smirks, “Yes, sadly your friend noticed my eyes on you.”

“You could have ignored him, you know, and just continued on with your night.”

“Let’s just say he was quite relentless when it came to talking with me,” she replied, annoyed.

“I’m sorry he caused you so much trouble, but hey, we have been having fun right, so I guess it was a good thing?”

Raina smiles for a second before wiping all emotion from her face, “A moment of weakness. I’ll admit it has been enjoyable but it was a mistake nonetheless. I like to observe but not participate, stick to the shadows, never joining the game.”

Jeremy becomes scared by her words, her seriousness and lack of emotion. “If you want to go, you can just go, or I’ll leave if you’d like,” he offers, wanting to escape the situation in any way possible.

“That won’t be enough. I require more.”
