Cascada (Part 6)
“While you’re here though, we will have to get you some new clothes and maybe a new hair color. You stand out pretty good from all us humans, and with cops chasing you, that is not a good thing.”
Cascada lets out a small laugh, “Yeah I haven’t noticed anyone else with pure gold clothing like mine or bright colored hair on your planet.”
“Does everyone on your planet look and dress like you?” Laura asks.
“Not exactly like me, but similar. Just the style of the planet. As for the hair, Hyjans are born with naturally vibrant colors.”
“Wow, the people here could only dream of that. We have to dye our hair to make it look like that and it isn’t even a permanent process.”
“Things like that vary from planet to planet. I have seen races more colorful than mine, and others with no color at all.”
“So how many other alien races are there out there?”
“More than I could count, definitely more than just you humans.”
Laura’s eyes go wide with amazement, “You know I’ve never really been into space stuff that much, but something about witnessing a real alien, hearing about all these things we never knew existed, it’s pretty amazing.”
“I envy your astonishment,” Cascada says a bit sadly, “When I was born, my people had already encountered many other races and had traveled far around the universe.”
“Well you can now say you are the first Hyjan to stumble upon earth and meet humans!”
A small smile appears on Cascada’s face, “Well you’re not wrong… which is why it’s so strange to me, why was I sent here? If it was my own people who sent me, why send me to some unexplored little galaxy like this one?”
Laura yawns and stands up, “I’m not sure, but we will have to figure it out in the morning. I’ll show you to your room and get you some more comfortable clothes to sleep in,” Laura stops her walk to the guest room to turn to Cascada, “You do sleep right?”
“Yes, Hyjans require rest.”
“Ok, just making sure.”
“I have found that no matter how different or similar other races are, they usually share the core common attributes of things like sleeping and eating. There are of course outliers, but the majority of races that I know of all sleep and eat just like me, and just like I assume you do.”
“Wow,” is all Laura can muster, taking in all this new information. “Well, here’s your room, give me one second, I’ll be right back with some clothes.”
Cascada takes this moment to look around the room, feeling the soft carpet under her feet, admiring the simple artwork hung on the walls. She hears Laura’s quick footsteps re-enter the room, “This room is nice.”
“Thanks, I’m not much for interior design but for guests I wanted it to be at least kind of homey.”
“Well it is very different from my home, but enjoyable nonetheless.”
Laura smiles, “Well here’s some clothes,” she says holding an outfit in each hand, “These are for tonight and those ones are for tomorrow.”
Cascada takes the clothes from Laura, “Thank you,” she says with a slight bow of her head.
“I’ll be just down the hall if you need anything, so uh, goodnight.”
“Goodnight Laura.” Cascada says as Laura leaves the room. After examining the clothes for a moment, Cascada changes into the new softer, looser clothing and crawls into bed.
