12/3/22 It was a Cat
It was a Cat
It starts first off as a small lump of snow, able to fit in the palm of your hand. As it is rolled and sculpted it grows, its edges disappear and it becomes a ball. It is placed down, a base for the rest of the snow to sit soundly on. The second ball is formed and then a third, placed respectively on the sturdy base.
The first part is done, now to decorate, make it not so bland. Character, character, what to do with this thing? Why make a simple snowman, when it could be a snowcat! Two small ears are placed on its head, then two little paws sticking out from the torso. Beautiful, but it still needs something, it is so plain. A small patch of dead flowers looks perfect for whiskers! And of course, two finish it off, two small rocks to create the eyes.
On goes one, perfect, beautiful. And now for the seco- oh no. As the second rock is shoved into the place where the cat's eye would go, the head breaks from the body, falling backwards and crumbling on the ground. No, how could this happen, the head was supported the whole time!
In honor of the beautiful creature this snowman could have become, the rock that took off the cat's head is placed on the body, becoming a new, comically small head. It is a reminder of what used to be there, and also what destroyed it. Now it sits, a strange form with two arms but no face. It is now its own thing, however, it was a cat.
