 The Talent

“Hello everyone my name is Henderson Lakes and I have come to Competition Talent to show the world my very unique but very special talent,” Henderson says to a camera.

“So can you tell us anything about your talent Mr. Lakes?” Asks one of the hosts of the show.

“Sorry Phil but you will all have to wait and see what it is,” Henderson says as if they’d been friends for a while.

“Alright well I know I’m excited and I’m sure everyone here and at home is as well,” the host says in that fake tv voice.

“Oh yes, everybody, and I do mean everybody,” he says winking upwards to seemingly no one, “will be amazed by my talent.”

The cameras cut off and Henderson is led backstage and prepped on what to do. “Wait  for the lady to give me the signal, walk on stage and do my thing. Wait for the lady to give me the signal, walk on stage and do my thing,” Henderson repeats to himself, making sure he doesn’t mess up this simple task.

After his little prep talk to himself, Henderson stares down the lady on the other side of the stage, not wanting to miss his que. The lady, a little intimidated by his gaze, gets the all clear in her ear piece and waves at Henderson.

The bold blonde haired man, walks on stage smiling, waving at the cheering audience. “Hello you lovely people of the audience. I have come to Competition Talent today to impress you all with my super unique, yet utterly amazing talent.” The crowd cheers before a pause of silence.

“Now I want all of you to pay very close attention. And not just all of you sitting in this stadium but you out there too,”...“Yes I’m talking to you, pay attention,” he says sternly.

The crowd sits confused, wondering who the man is talking to. “Now most of you will probably not understand what is happening, but I know one person,” another cheeky wink to the sky, “will understand.”

The crowd's confusion only grows, a faint “Just do it already!” is heard from the back.

“Alright alright here we go,” he takes a deep breath then starts mystically waving his arms. “My talent is…the ability to abruptly end any story.”

  Musical Footsteps One day as he walked, a musical note began to play. With each step a new note, always complimenting the one before. There was no piano, just his stride, creating a beautiful melody for all to hear. He didn’t know why the music played, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. It sounded so familiar to him, but he could never quite place where he had heard it before. When passersby would ask what song it was, he would simply tell them it was the song from his heart.   The Girl in the Horse Painting “Oh man have you seen that one painting, the one with the horse, on that blue background.” “Yeah! Oh my gosh that painting is so good. I’m actually looking to get a print of it to hang in my house.” “That would look so good in your living room, or anywhere really.” “I know, it’s such a good painting it could go anywhere really and make the room better!” “Have you ever noticed the girl in the background? I never had until someone pointed it out to me and then I couldn’t stop looking at her.” “There is a girl in the background?” “I know right. I was shocked too, but yeah, there is. 4/24/22 Carried by the Breeze

  Carried by the Breeze She stood in the breeze, arms stretched out wide. “Take me away,” she said, and the wind complied with her request. It picked her up off the earth and carried her through the sky and clouds.  Although a wondrous view passed by below her, she just closed her eyes and floated with the wind. The sight could be replicated but this feeling would never be again. She did nothing but float, feeling the breeze run through her hair, trying to capture it in her hands. Hours went by and she enjoyed every moment, but the chill of the sky began to wear into her, she was ready to go down. The wind however had different plans, it was not ready to let her go. Her assumption of being a friend to the wind changed as she realized she was prisoner to it. Struggling against air, she tried to point herself downwards and break free.
