Laughing
Her joy only brought her strength. As her muscles tightened and the air released from her mouth, she felt her body work, growing stronger with each wheezy exhale. The pain in her chest was worth the joy and the strength she gained.
At some points she could barely breathe, her laugh diminished to simply air puffing out in small spurts, trying its best to make a noise. The confidence she had, to just laugh and enjoy, was so empowering. She didn’t need to justify her joy, she simply needed to enjoy it.
As her muscles were worked, she tried to stop, but the laughter continued on. Everything now was funny and she could do nothing about it but laugh. The workout she had that night, simply sitting in a chair, was incredible.
The next morning, although sore, she felt strengthened in both mind and body. The extra tone to her muscles was nice, but the happiness in her brain was even better. For once, in a long long time, she remembered what it was like to truly be happy.
