4/9/22 Inside and Outside

 Inside and Outside

Always cooped up, always inside, never wanting to see the outdoors. The outside world is scary, so many bugs and other terrifying things. Inside always feels so safe, so protected. Why go outside when inside is safe.

The few times where inside can feel scary is when outside gets inside. A bug flies into the house, water leaks in, a small animal finds its way inside. Fear sets in and the only thing to do is to get outside, back outside.

Inside is inside for a reason and outside is not meant to come inside. When outside comes inside, inside is dsiturbed and no longer a safe place. Inside is there to protect from outside, while outside constantly tries to come inside.

Outside has no care for people, it simply does what it does. Inside is meant to be a safe space, to be away from outside. Inside even tries to repel outside, convincing it to stay away. It does not always work but it keeps the inside even more secure.

Outside tends to dominate over time. Outside came before inside and is the natural state of things. Inside is the foreign object that intrudes on the outside. Inside is unnatural whereas outside is completely natural. Inside was made to bring comfort to people and protect them from the dangers outside.

Inside and outside are constantly at war with each other. Outside may have the upper hand but inside grows stronger day by day. As people advance, so does inside. They make inside safer and safer, constantly trying to build upon security and safety.

Outside is still a good place to be but not forever. The preferable lifestyle is to have a good balance of inside and outside. The safety of inside is good but it tends to make people forget the importance of outside.

There are people who prefer inside and some who prefer outside, and neither of them are wrong. In some cases, outside is simulated inside in a controlled environment. In this situation it is ok for outside to be inside. But no matter what people prefer, they can all agree that outside should stay outside unless otherwise invited inside.

(Author's Note: Oh man, I don’t know what happened with this one. I kind of zoned out a bit and just kept typing. I will fully admit that it is not very good, but it is here nonetheless.)
