 Forgotten Memories (Part 6)

“Please, I was getting somewhere with him, let me keep talking with him, I think I can get us more information!” the medic pleads.

The driver of the ambulance grabs her and pulls her back, “Sarah what are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself fired?!”

“No, I’m trying to figure out what happened to this man!”

“Obviously he has suffered some sort of brain damage and the doctors will take care of him and see if they can fix it.”

“But what if it isn’t brain damage, what if it’s something else? He seemed to be regaining memories, like he was triggered by certain words!”

“I’m sure the doctors will be able to figure out just as much as you.”

But what if they don’t” Sarah says sternly, “If their scans come up negative, and they don’t find anything physically wrong with him, what then? They determine there is nothing to do to fix him so he either lives in a hospital room the rest of his life, or they lock him up in some care facility.”

“Yes Sarah, and they will take care of him and make sure he is ok in either situation. I don’t see the problem here.”

“Don’t you get it Nate?! This man had a life, one that if he could remember, he would probably want to go back to. Something smells fishy about his memory loss, it doesn’t seem like normal dementia, it is very unnatural.”

“Well that’s not for us to determine, our job is done, we got him here. Now we wait for our next call to go rescue someone else.” Nate turns to walk away, “Try not to get so attached to the next one.”

Sarah fumes where she stands. ‘I can help Jeremy, I know I can, maybe if they would just let me visit him, I could keep talking with him, help him remember more about that night.’
