Forgotten Memories (Part 11)
As the night grows dimmer and the clock turns to ten, Sarah arrives back at Club Echo, a little more dressed up than before, but nothing too extravagant. She waits in line and gets in not long after. Sitting down at the bar she looks around, seeing if anyone fits Jeremy’s loose description of Raina. Before she finds her target, the owner whom she had met before finds her first.
Now that she was back at a proper hour he seemed much more friendly, “Welcome back ma’am,” he says, sitting next to Sarah. “The lady you’re looking for, Raina, has just arrived.” The man points to the entrance. Sarah sees Raina in a long dark brown gown, a few shades lighter than her skin. “Now I assume Raina ain’t no friend of yours so if there is going to be a fight of some kind, I ask you take it outside. This is a well respected establishment and I don’t want you scaring off any of my customers.”
“Will do, sir, thank you.” The man walks away from the bar, leaving Sarah sitting there, making glances at Raina, trying to observe her without seeming too suspicious. She watches as Raina heads for a corner of the dance floor and gets lost in the crowd. Sarah takes this opportunity to sneakily follow her, hiding amongst the hoard of dancing people.
Sarah makes her way through the crowd and reaches Raina. The woman pays her no mind, not knowing Sarah’s connection with Jeremy. Sarah approaches her and lightly grabs her arm. As Raina tries to pull away, Sarah tightens her grip.
“Hey let me go!” Raina exclaims.
Sarah gets close to Raina’s face, “Not until you fix my friend.”
Raina stops struggling against Sarah’s grasp. “I see my serum didn’t work. Strange.”
“Oh it worked, just not all the way. And now you are going to fix him and give him his memories back,” Sarah demands through gritted teeth.
“There is no fixing him. Once injected, my serum induces complete memory loss, or it’s supposed to,” she says, annoyed with the fact that it had failed this time. “However he has managed to regain his memories so far is what he will have to do for the rest of his life.”
“No, there must be a way to reverse the effects, an antidote of some sort. The memories are obviously still there.”
“Even if there was a way to reverse it, why would I?”
“Because now, not only does Jeremy know about you, but I know about you, and I know what you’ve done and could have you arrested for it,” Sarah threatens.
“Well yes, that is if you can remember me,” Raina says as she quickly pulls out a syringe from her small purse. As she tries to inject Sarah in the arm, Sarah quickly grabs her by the wrist, twists it, and with her other hand takes the syringe.
A couple of bouncers spot the fight and come over to assess the situation. “Is there a problem here ladies?” one of the bouncers asks.
“No, no problem at all,” Sarah says as she walks for the exit. Raina, not wanting to admit what had been taken from her, says nothing. Raina’s anger blazed, knowing she’d been caught.
