 Run (Part 1)

“Run, RUN!” The small gray two legged creatures chased the group as they tried to get away. A few got picked off during the chase but the majority managed to outrun the little beasts.

With a few friends gone, the rest of the group found themselves at a cliffside with nowhere to go. The tiny gray monsters had them surrounded, their only choice was to jump to the rapid flowing waters of the river below.

Together, the nine friends all jumped, hurdling for the dangerous waters beneath them. They all held their bodies as straight as they could, wanting to smoothly enter the water. With eight succeeding, the ninth friend lost control during the fall and slammed into the water as if it were a brick wall. The eight that remained began to swim as fast as they could through the harsh water to the other side of the river.

The gray creatures stood looking down at the water, seeing their prey get away. Instinct drove them to follow, so the hoard of little gray lizard creatures jumped in as well. They all easily  survived their entrance into the water and began to swim towards the group of friends.

By now the eight had reached the other side and were climbing out. The river's flow had put some extra distance between them and the creatures, but they were not safe yet. They watched for a moment as they saw the little lizard monsters jumping in and swimming rapidly towards them. Realizing the imminent danger, they ran into the woods, hoping to find a place to hide.

As they ran, they began to hear the little pitter patter of the creature's footsteps coming up behind them. One of the friends points to a large tree with lots of branches close to the ground, easy to climb. They all run for it and begin their assent. Once a good distance up the tree, they look as the hoard of beasts gather at the tree base. The friends hoped and prayed that these things couldn’t climb.

A few of the creatures attempted clawing at the tree, but none were successful. Falling and swimming they could do, but climbing was impossible for the tiny lizard creatures.

After waiting for about an hour, the friends were sure the monsters could not climb the tree, but were now faced with a challenge that one of them blatantly points out, “What now?"
