 Don’t Think

“Don’t think, don’t you dare think. When you think that’s when bad things happen, so just don’t. Don’t do it. I swear, if you think right now, right after I told you not to. Oh man, just don’t.”

He stands blank faced, no emotion, no movement, a shell of a human.

“Good, good, just keep doing that and everything will be fine, totally fine. You’re doing perfect. Just don’t have any thoughts whatsoever. Don’t get curious about anything, don’t try to come up with any new ideas, just don’t do anything, don’t think of anything.”

He continues to stand, not moving a muscle, his brain completely shut off.

“Alright, now I don’t know how long you can keep this up but keep going. We don’t want a repeat of the last time you thought; wow was that bad. Let’s just not do that again, keep those thoughts away, you’re doing great.”

He cannot even hear the words being spoken to him.

“Ok buddy, I have to go now, but you just keep not thinking ok? You probably aren’t even paying attention to me. Which is great! Keep doing that. I’ll see you later, and please for the love of everything, just don’t think ok? … Ok cool, bye friend.”

He stays still, not moving a muscle, as his friend leaves him to remain in his thoughtless state.

  Musical Footsteps One day as he walked, a musical note began to play. With each step a new note, always complimenting the one before. There was no piano, just his stride, creating a beautiful melody for all to hear. He didn’t know why the music played, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. It sounded so familiar to him, but he could never quite place where he had heard it before. When passersby would ask what song it was, he would simply tell them it was the song from his heart.   The Girl in the Horse Painting “Oh man have you seen that one painting, the one with the horse, on that blue background.” “Yeah! Oh my gosh that painting is so good. I’m actually looking to get a print of it to hang in my house.” “That would look so good in your living room, or anywhere really.” “I know, it’s such a good painting it could go anywhere really and make the room better!” “Have you ever noticed the girl in the background? I never had until someone pointed it out to me and then I couldn’t stop looking at her.” “There is a girl in the background?” “I know right. I was shocked too, but yeah, there is. When you get that print you’ll have to look for her.” “I guess I will. Wow, that's amazing. I’ve looked at that painting a thousand times and never even noticed the girl. 4/24/22 Carried by the Breeze

  Carried by the Breeze She stood in the breeze, arms stretched out wide. “Take me away,” she said, and the wind complied with her request. It picked her up off the earth and carried her through the sky and clouds.  Although a wondrous view passed by below her, she just closed her eyes and floated with the wind. The sight could be replicated but this feeling would never be again. She did nothing but float, feeling the breeze run through her hair, trying to capture it in her hands. Hours went by and she enjoyed every moment, but the chill of the sky began to wear into her, she was ready to go down. The wind however had different plans, it was not ready to let her go. Her assumption of being a friend to the wind changed as she realized she was prisoner to it. Struggling against air, she tried to point herself downwards and break free.
