 Escape (Part 2)

As the two walked, Ora was constantly turning her head, looking behind her, making sure they weren’t being followed.

Confused and concerned, Len asked, “So, what are you running from? Is it a person, an animal…?”

“Uhm neither. You’re going to think I’m crazy but it was a noise. A very consistent and loud banging noise.”

Len furrowed his eyebrows, his confusion only growing stronger. “So you’re running from whatever was causing the noise?”

“No, yes, maybe…I’m sot sure,” Ora sputtered out,  “All I know is I couldn’t stay at my home any longer. I knew I needed to leave and get as far away as possible.”

“May I ask how you knew?”

“Instinct. Every bone in my body was telling me to get out of that house. I don’t exactly know why, but I know I can’t go back.”

“Well if the noise is just at your house, then you shouldn’t be worried about anything chasing you.”

Ora exhaled loudly, growing frustrated with the man, “Look I know it sounds weird and it is hard to explain, but I feel like something is chasing me, like I’m being hunted. I think the banging noise was a warning. Well I took it and ran,” Ora calms down as she sees that Len is beginning to understand. “I don’t know what is chasing me, or if it is even still chasing me at all. I just feel an overwhelming sense of danger, one that I can’t ignore.”

“Alright, well hopefully you will feel a little safer once we get to my house,” Len says with a soft tone.

“I hope I will,” Ora responds, unsure if the feeling of danger will ever go away.
