 The Mountain Bird

The mountain bird roams over its rocky terrain. It is his, and no one else's. Anyone who treads on the mountain bird's land meets a quick demise. The bird is friends with the mountain, and the mountain obeys the bird. Whoever the bird deems unworthy of walking on his land, he commands the mountain to end them with a most terrible fate; whether it be a rock slide or a sinkhole, all the trespassers' lives quickly come to an end.

There has never been anyone to walk on the mountain bird’s land and live. The bird does not like anyone, trusts no one, and therefore disposes of them quickly. It has been this way for as long as the mountain bird has been alive. It claimed its land from the day it was born and has not allowed anyone on it since.

Not many venture to the isolated land of the mountain bird, but some brave explorers dare to go off the trails, away from civilization. They sadly stumble upon the mountain bird’s land with no idea the vengeance they will face. 

The mountain bird is cruel, never giving anyone a chance to leave. In his mind, they shouldn’t have come in the first place; People have no place this far out in the wilderness. The only companionship the bird needs is that of the mountain. They share a bond like no other, one that seems impossible but is very real, and very strong. 

Be careful when exploring, be wary of the mountain bird’s domain.

4/24/22 Carried by the Breeze

  Carried by the Breeze She stood in the breeze, arms stretched out wide. “Take me away,” she said, and the wind complied with her request. It picked her up off the earth and carried her through the sky and clouds.  Although a wondrous view passed by below her, she just closed her eyes and floated with the wind. The sight could be replicated but this feeling would never be again. She did nothing but float, feeling the breeze run through her hair, trying to capture it in her hands. Hours went by and she enjoyed every moment, but the chill of the sky began to wear into her, she was ready to go down. The wind however had different plans, it was not ready to let her go.
