 Cascada (Part 7)

The next morning Cascada wakes up and makes her way back to the main living area of Laura’s home. After not seeing Laura there, she quietly walks around the house. Behind a shut door she hears faint breathing, ‘She must be asleep in there,’ Cascada determines.

When she walks back to the living room she is stunned by a bright light. As the light fades Cascada sees in front of her a woman with a flowy silver dress and purple hair.

“Highest Leader, what are you doing here?” Cascada says as she bows, “What am I doing here?”

“Respectable Subject, I am sorry for all the confusion but it was necessary for our little experiment.”

“Experiment? What experiment?”

“We have been scoping out this earth for quite some time now, figuring out if we wanted to establish contact or not. From our ships we could not determine what the beings of this planet were like as they were all so diverse. We needed to send someone down to see what it was really like to interact with these humans.”

“Why me? Why couldn’t I have been told about it?” Cascada angrily asks.

“Well we wanted to test their kindness and compassion for the more vulnerable. Sending you here like we did, let you be about as vulnerable as you could be. From what we saw there was much war on this planet, and we needed to see if there was a more peaceful side to them.”

Cascada’s blood begins to boil, “So you chose a random Hyjan citizen, ME, and transported me here with no warning, even though it was potentially dangerous or even deadly?!”

“There will be a great reward for you back on Hyja! You shall be promoted from Respectable to Precious, and there shall be many other fortunes to come to you,” the woman responds, not acknowledging her wrongdoing.

A yawn is heard down the hall as a groggy Laura walks down in her robe. “What’s going on?” she sleepily asks.

The Highest Leader looks to Cascada and quietly asks, “Have you told her the truth about yourself?”

“Is this another Hyjan?” Laura asks.

Cascada grows worried, “Ummm…”
