Cascada (Part 8)

The Highest Leader quickly grabs a small orb strapped to her waistband and throws it at Laura. The orb floats just in front of her and she is encased in a glowing green light, completely unable to move.

“Why did you do that?!” Cascada asks, startled by the sudden action.

“Because she creates a problem for us. You see we have been monitoring you via cameras implanted in your eyes so we can see what you see, and from what I’ve seen, I have concluded that Hyja will not make contact with earth. Humans are too dangerous and immature.”

“And you don’t want them to know we exist. But because Laura knows…” Cascada puts the pieces together. “What are you going to do to her? You won’t hurt her will you? Of all the humans I ran into, she has been the kindest.”

“No my Subject, worry not. A simple memory wipe will fix everything. She will forget the last day of her life, but then continue on as normal. Yes she may be a bit confused but it will pass.”

Cascada looks to Laura and then back to the purple haired woman, “Alright Highest Leader,” she says slightly bowing her head.

Next to where she pulled the stun orb from, the Highest Leader grabs a memory wipe device, a long thin crystal held by a metal handle covered in buttons. The Highest Leader runs the device back and forth over Laura’s head while holding down the biggest of the buttons.

“Thank you for your kindness Laura, goodbye,” Cascada says just before the memory wipe finishes.

The Highest Leader pulls the device away then grabs the orb. The stun field is released and Laura drops to the ground passing out as she lands.

“She will wake up won’t she?”

“Yes Subject, she will. Now let’s go home, there are many rewards waiting for you back on Hyja.”

Cascada is teleported away with The Highest Leader. As much as she wanted to go home the day before, she was sad to be leaving earth, sad that Laura would never remember any of this. It felt wrong to go home and collect these rewards, the anger from being chosen against her will as a test subject was still fresh in her mind. However, she didn’t know what else to do. She did not really want to make a life on earth, Hyja was her home. As mad as she was, she still wanted to go home and get back to her life.
