 Deflating World

Their world was dyeing, deflating like a balloon. The thin shell had slowly been losing air from inside for thousands of years, slowly changing the shape of the planet.

None of the inhabitants knew how long their planet would stay afloat. It would always be floating in space of course, but once the air was gone, its constant motion would stop, launching everything off into the depths of space, leaving a thin coin like rock behind.

For so long the light weighted creatures had called this planet their home. This semi solid semi gaseous planet, a phenomenon of the universe, a perfect place for them. They could not leave, nothing could transport them and no other planet would fit their needs.

As the two poles of the planet squished together following the loss of the inner air, great ridges formed, like mountains running circles around the world. The ridges would destroy structures and make travel very difficult but they adapted. It was constant work to keep up with the shifting grounds.

They loved their strange little planet, even though one day it would eject them to their doom, they stayed with it, enjoying the time they had, conquering all the challenges it threw at them before succumbing to the unbeatable challenge.
