Breaking the Cage (Part 1)
It is the end of tournament 500, three contestants remain in the People Cage: Kevin, Hilton, and the returning survivor Ben Aaron.
Ben looks at Kevin and Hilton, a very serious look in his eyes. “I have something very important to tell you both, but no one on the outside can know what I’m saying, so make it look like we are just talking ok?”
Kevin and Hilton nervously nod their heads, “Come on come on, talk back to me, we have to make this look natural!”
“Yeah man that sounds cool,” Kevin says mustering as much courage as he can.
“So what’s up Ben?” Hilton asks casually.
“Don’t react, but I know how to end the People Cage.”
Not following Ben’s only order, Kevin and Hilton both drop their jaws but quickly regain composure.
“And how is that?” Kevin asks.
“Yeah tell us the story Ben,” Hilton says with a fake laugh to throw off suspicion of the outside people.
“There is a reason I kept volunteering to come back to the People Cage. In the waiting room, before we were dropped into the cage, in the moments when we were not supervised, I managed to look around at some paperwork carelessly strewn around. I saw mentions of a single document, it was spoken of as very, very, important.”
“Why is it so important?” Hilton asks.
“I wasn’t sure at first, but then I managed to catch glimpses into the controller's room. On the wall as a framed document, secured in a metal case with what I assume is bullet proof glass.”
“So basically the controllers really don’t want anyone getting ahold of that document,” Kevin points out, “Do you know why?”
“After doing some digging into the origins of the People Cage, I found out that the document is a contract the controllers threatened a government leader into signing. The document makes the People Cage legal and gives the controllers full control of it.”
Hilton’s face is full of surprise, “How did that even happen, why didn’t the government say anything about it?”
“Basically the government didn’t want to own up to their mistake, and after seeing the popularity of the cage, they just sat back and let it continue and become normal. Destroying that document however would make the People Cage illegal again, and the government could come forward and shut it down.”
“Would they do it though? People would be mad about it, they love the People Cage!”
“But do they love the Quad Killers Kevin?”
“No, those four were disgusting murderers who dissapeared and were never punished for their crimes!”
Hilton puts the pieces together, “The controllers are the Quad Killers.”
“Yes Hilton, and to expose them for who they are would quickly change how people view the People Cage.”
“So how are we supposed to destroy it?” Kevin asks.
“That’s the part I need your help with.”
