The People Cage (Part 8)
“Well Nicky, no matter how everyone feels about what just happened, it still happened leaving us with just three contestants left in the People Cage!”
“I know, we are getting so close to the end now Morris! Who will survive it all, and who won’t leave at all?”
“From what I’ve seen, Ben and Kevin are favored by our audience in a pretty close tie of votes. Poor Hilton though, in last by a pretty large margin.”
“But as always, our audience votes are just a fun guessing game, and all the control is in the hands of the controllers.”
“That’s right Nicky, and in case anyone out there forgot, the controllers never see how the audience is voting. Heck they don’t even get to listen to our wonderful commentary. They are completely sealed off, making decisions based on their own opinions, and their opinions alone.”
“It is still fun though to see who you all think will live and who will fall, so keep those votes coming! So Morris, we can see the audience votes but let's try and get in the heads of the controllers, who do you think they want to survive?”
“Well Nicky, it’s not like they choose from the start who is going to live. Decisions on who to drop are changing all the time based on the players actions. It’s not just pure luck that Ben survived four tournaments before this.”
“I don’t know Morris, seems like there might be a little bias towards the guy. I mean, he is in a pretty good place where he could survive it all again.”
“Or they could just be making you think that. Maybe they are just saving him for the last drop to really shock the audience. Either option is very plausible though. We may try our best, but it is impossible to truly get in the mind of a controller.”
“So let’s say Ben survives this tournament, do you think he would come back for another, he seems to like pushing his luck.”
“I know I certainly wouldn’t! The fact that he kept volunteering to come back is insane! No one really knows why he keeps doing it either.”
“I’ve heard people think he is doing it for fame. I mean who else can say they have survived multiple tournaments of the People Cage!”
“I don’t know about that Nicky, he doesn’t seem like the kind of person who really wants to be known by everyone or wants to flaunt his success. I’ve heard he keeps his life very private, not doing any interviews or photoshoots or anything like that. You’d think someone doing it for fame would take those opportunities, gain that exposure and all.”
“That’s true Morris. Maybe if he survives this tournament, we will have to try and get an interview in with him, see what’s going on in his head.”
