 Lock Picking

“I’ve almost got it, just one…last….pin…” you wiggle the small piece of metal inside the lock. “Dangit!” you shout as you remove the metal piece.

“What happened? I thought you had it.”

“I did, but it’s that last pin. You have to hit it just right while also keeping the others in place. I had to move my stick to get the last one and lost the others.”

“Well now you know how to do it right? Can’t you just try it again?”

“I can but the same thing might happen. The last pin is round and you have to hit it perfectly in the center or else it wont push in and release the lock.”

“The boss isn’t going to be very happy if you can’t get this thing open. He paid a lot of money for you to get this done clean and quiet.”

“I know, I know! Alright, here we go again.” You put the metal tool back into the lock. “Ok, uh huh, almost there.”

“Are you at th-”

“Yes, now be quiet.” You take a deep breath, “Please work,” you whisper. As you push the tool in the hits the pin on the head and the lock releases.

“WOOOOOOOOOO!” your partner shouts.

You quickly cover his mouth, “Clean and quiet.”

“Right, sorry.”

“Grab the package then I’ll lock it up again. Then we can get out of here.”

“Sounds good chief.”

  Musical Footsteps One day as he walked, a musical note began to play. With each step a new note, always complimenting the one before. There was no piano, just his stride, creating a beautiful melody for all to hear. He didn’t know why the music played, but he enjoyed it nonetheless.   The Girl in the Horse Painting “Oh man have you seen that one painting, the one with the horse, on that blue background.” “Yeah! Oh my gosh that painting is so good. I’m actually looking to get a print of it to hang in my house.” “That would look so good in your living room, or anywhere really.” “I know, it’s such a good painting it could go anywhere really and make the room better!” “Have you ever noticed the girl in the background? I never had until someone pointed it out to me and then I couldn’t stop looking at her.” “There is a girl in the background?” “I know right. I was shocked too, but yeah, there is. When you get that print you’ll have to look for her.” “I guess I will. Wow, that's amazing. I’ve looked at that painting a thousand times and never even noticed the girl. 4/24/22 Carried by the Breeze

  Carried by the Breeze She stood in the breeze, arms stretched out wide. “Take me away,” she said, and the wind complied with her request. It picked her up off the earth and carried her through the sky and clouds.  Although a wondrous view passed by below her, she just closed her eyes and floated with the wind. The sight could be replicated but this feeling would never be again. She did nothing but float, feeling the breeze run through her hair, trying to capture it in her hands. Hours went by and she enjoyed every moment, but the chill of the sky began to wear into her, she was ready to go down. The wind however had different plans, it was not ready to let her go. Her assumption of being a friend to the wind changed as she realized she was prisoner to it. Struggling against air, she tried to point herself downwards and break free.
