 Darkness and Light

The darkness needs the light. Without it, it is nothing, just darkness. Alone and void, nowhere to go, no way to grow, it simply, is. 

To be anything it needs light. The light completes it. The light fills it. The light brings new opportunities, ones the darkness never had before. Before constrained by the nature of it’s being, the light set it free from its invisible cage. It is made new in the light.

But just as the darkness can embrace the light, so can the light embrace the darkness. The light never knew what the darkness was like. It simply came and lit up the void. A natural curiosity grows and the light can wander into the darkness, slowly dimming its own brightness.

Once the light goes dark it is impossible for it to refrain its brightness, as it itself is now darkness. The darkened light must find a new light to bring it back. Some dark lights never find a new light, they forever live in the darkness, forgetting what it was like to be light. Others are embraced by new lights and drawn back into brightness.

Once the returned lights have come back it is hard to stay away from the darkness. They have dabbled in it, tasted the dark, and some want to go back. Knowing now, all that there is, some lights hastily charge back to the darkness to purposely avoid the light. The others fight to stay away from the darkness. They see it constantly and get close to it all the time, but stay strong and stay away.

There will always be light and dark. Lights will always turn back to the darkness. The darkness grows everyday, making it impossible for all to be light. That is simply how it is.

  The Girl in the Horse Painting “Oh man have you seen that one painting, the one with the horse, on that blue background.” “Yeah! Oh my gosh that painting is so good. I’m actually looking to get a print of it to hang in my house.” “That would look so good in your living room, or anywhere really.” “I know, it’s such a good painting it could go anywhere really and make the room better!” “Have you ever noticed the girl in the background? 4/24/22 Carried by the Breeze

  Carried by the Breeze She stood in the breeze, arms stretched out wide. “Take me away,” she said, and the wind complied with her request. It picked her up off the earth and carried her through the sky and clouds.  Although a wondrous view passed by below her, she just closed her eyes and floated with the wind. The sight could be replicated but this feeling would never be again. She did nothing but float, feeling the breeze run through her hair, trying to capture it in her hands. Hours went by and she enjoyed every moment, but the chill of the sky began to wear into her, she was ready to go down. The wind however had different plans, it was not ready to let her go.
