Tearfall (Part 3)
After being hooked up to an IV outside to keep hydrated, Doctor Liken returned to tell her the decision his team has come up with.
“So what’s the news doctor?”
“Sadly, not good.”
“Oh…great.” Her confidence fades, “Do you have any plan of how to make it stop.” Doctor Liken pauses for a moment. “Whatever it is, please just tell me.”
The doctor takes a deep breath, “The only thing we can think of is to let your body drain all of its water out naturally. I know it seems endless but the fact that you were suffering signs of dehydration leads us to believe it would eventually run out. Once your body is rid of all the water, we will rehydrate you, heavily monitoring everything so if it comes back, we might know the cause.”
“Wait but, wouldn’t I die with no water in my body?”
“That’s the bad part. You would most likely die and need resuscitation. However, it could stop the water for good and you could continue your life as normal.”
“Or I’ll be dead,” she says, with no emotion on her face.
“Yes…” They both stand silently. “It is up to you. Know that there is a good possibility that you will survive this…but there is also the risk.”
With next to no hesitation in her voice she responds, “Let’s do it.” Doctor Liken nods then heads back inside. “Better than being a garden hose the rest of my life,” she whispers to herself.
