 Worthless Fighting

The fight was brutal. Two sword masters going head to head in a battle of revenge; each having taken something very precious from the other. Both sword masters had previously been allies, the closest of friends, but unknowingly managed to turn against each other.

Now they battled to the death. Neither wanted this fate to come to the other, but their stubbornness and vengeful hearts persisted, desperately needing their revenge, and so they battled. Heavy swings were thrown and barely blocked. Swipes missed and some landed, leaving minor cuts and bruises.

The battle raged on and on before coming to a halt. Both sword masters held their swords in the air, pushing against the others, neither one strong enough to overpower the other. Reluctantly they dropped their swords, their arms already weak from the fight and no longer able to hold such pressure.

Both swords fell into the ground forming an X. Panting heavily trying to regain their breath, the sword masters looked to their fallen weapons. An image of the same swords hung up on a wall, crossed as they were now, flashed through their mind bringing back the memories of their time united.

“No more,” the sword masters said in unison, looking directly at each other. Instead of continuing their fight they decided it was no longer worth it. Long ago they had vowed to let nothing come between them, and they decided now to keep it, putting aside this rough patch of their friendship, they continued on as before, never looking back again.
