5/15/22 Forgotten Memories (Part 11)

Forgotten Memories (Part 11) As the night grows dimmer and the clock turns to ten, Sarah arrives back at Club Echo, a little more dressed up than before, but nothing too extravagant. She waits in line and gets in not long after. Sitting down at the bar she looks around, seeing if anyone fits Jeremy’s loose description of Raina. Before she finds her target, the owner whom she had met before finds her first. Now that she was back at a proper hour he seemed much more friendly, “Welcome back ma’am,” he says, sitting next to Sarah. “The lady you’re looking for, Raina, has just arrived.” The man points to the entrance. Sarah sees Raina in a long dark brown gown, a few shades lighter than her skin. “Now I assume Raina ain’t no friend of yours so if there is going to be a fight of some kind, I ask you take it outside. This is a well respected establishment and I don’t want you scaring off any of my customers.” “Will do, sir, thank you.” The man walks away from the bar, leaving Sara...

5/14/22 Forgotten Memories (Part 10)

Forgotten Memories (Part 10) After a short drive, Sarah arrives at Club Echo. As it is only noon, the club is closed. Curious if anyone is inside, Sarah goes and knocks on the door, but receives no response. She knocks again just to make sure. This time an annoyed looking man opens the door. The man momentarily looks Sarah up and down, “Excuse me lady but this is a nightclub, not a dayclub,” he says rudely.  “I know and I’m sorry to bother you, I’m looking for someone, who has been to your club,” Sarah pleads. “And who are you, a cop or something?” “No, I just have a friend who is really messed up now because of someone he met here.” “Look I’m sorry about your friend but this ain’t my problem,” the man says, trying to shut the door in Sarah’s face. Sarah quickly grabs the door, preventing him from shutting it, “Her name is Raina, she has dark skin and curly black hair. The night my friend met her she was wearing black. Does she sound familiar?” The man laughs...

5/13/22 Forgotten Memories (Part 9)

Forgotten Memories (Part 9) Excited by his understanding of yes and no, Sarah pushes on with her questions. “Did Raina make you lose your memory?” Jeremy’s eyes twitch as another memory plays through his head.  “Before the night is over, you will lose your memory and forget you ever met me.” Raina lets out a short little laugh, “Actually, you won't remember anything at all. Even better!” Jeremy doesn’t even say anything, he tries to run away from the crazy woman in front of him. Raina grabs his arm and injects him with a clear liquid. “I would run home Jeremy, soon you won’t know where home is,” she whispers in his ear. Jeremy snaps back, “Raina, lose memory,” he nods his head up and down. “Do you know where we can find Raina? No you don’t know how to respond to that,” she thinks out loud. “Um, Raina, Club, Name?” Another memory flashes in Jeremy’s mind.  As Jeremy is stumbling out of the club, he turns around to ensure Raina isn’t following him. The neon ...

5/12/22 Forgotten Memories (Part 8)

Forgotten Memories (Part 8) Jeremy sits up in a cold sweat, breathing heavy from the memory he had just seen in his dream.  “Well he is sleeping right now but if you’d like,” the nurse stops as she notices Jeremy bolt awake, “Oh nevermind, it looks like Mr. Paine has just woken up.” Jeremy looks over and sees Sarah standing next to the nurse. She gives him a smile and a small wave. “Well I will leave you two be, call if you need anything,” the nurse says as she leaves the room. Sarah walks over to Jeremy’s bedside, “Hey, remember me?” Jeremy smiles, mimicking the one she gave him just moments ago. She takes that as a sign that he recognizes her. “Have any new memories pop up while you’ve been here?” Sarah asks. Jeremy gives no response as English is still elusive to him. “Right, right, sorry. The party, and Raina?” she asks the question with the tone of her voice.  “Dancing, Raina, mistake, stick to the shadows, require more,” Jeremy responds, repeating ...

5/11/22 Forgotten Memories (Part 7)

Forgotten Memories (Part 7) After countless hours of tests and scans, Jeremy sits in a hospital bed, in a dull room, even more confused as to what was happening than before. Laying still in bed and not knowing what else to do, he repeated the words he now knew in his head. No new flashes, no new memories, all he had is what he had already been given. The small snippets of information were not enough, they meant nothing. The woman in the ambulance, he wished she was there, she was helping, she made more memories appear, but now there was no one. He sat alone in that room, an occasional visit from a nurse bringing food, but aside from that there was no human contact.  He began to look around the room, seeing if anything around would trigger a memory…  Nothing. Jeremy began to grow frustrated, he didn’t even fully understand the feeling, but the anger grew. He just wanted to know more, he just wanted to remember.  As the hours passed by, Jeremy’s eyes began to fee...

5/10/22 Forgotten Memories (Part 6)

Forgotten Memories (Part 6) “Please, I was getting somewhere with him, let me keep talking with him, I think I can get us more information!” the medic pleads. The driver of the ambulance grabs her and pulls her back, “Sarah what are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself fired?!” “No, I’m trying to figure out what happened to this man!” “Obviously he has suffered some sort of brain damage and the doctors will take care of him and see if they can fix it.” “But what if it isn’t brain damage, what if it’s something else? He seemed to be regaining memories, like he was triggered by certain words!” “I’m sure the doctors will be able to figure out just as much as you.” But what if they don’t” Sarah says sternly, “If their scans come up negative, and they don’t find anything physically wrong with him, what then? They determine there is nothing to do to fix him so he either lives in a hospital room the rest of his life, or they lock him up in some care facility.” “Yes ...

5/9/22 Forgotten Memories (Part 5)

Forgotten Memories (Part 5) Jeremy sits quietly in the back of the ambulance and he is driven to the hospital. He jolts slightly with each bump on the road. The medics all stare at him, not sure of what to ask, not sure if they would get a reply. The woman from before decides to try again at getting some answers from him. “Sir?” she asks. No response. “Jeremy?” she asks again. Jeremy looks her way in acknowledgement. “Jeremy, do you remember anything about the party you were at? Do you know where you were? Were you with anyone? A friend?” Her last word triggers another memory.  “Jeremy!” a blonde man calls from across the room. “Hey man, this is my new friend Raina, she has been looking you up and down all night and wants to get to know you better soooo, Raina, this is Jeremy. Jeremy, Raina.” The two stare awkwardly at each other, “Alright, I’ll let you two be, don’t get too crazy now,” the man says with a wink as he returns into the crowd of dancing people. Jeremy blink...
